After tackling Kid Cudi‘s “Mojo So Dope,” eerie vocalist Julia Losfelt covers “You Took Your Time” by Mount Kimbie. Originally rapped over by King Krule, the initial production boasts Shlohmo-esque synths and lo-fi ambiance, both of which remain true throughout. The percussion is stripped and replaced with echoing guitar riffs; the table has been set perfectly for the young Parisian.
The track ripples along until 1:55, where a down-pitched groan reminiscent of many A$AP Rocky snippets transitions into the climax at 2:12; double-timed chords intertwine with the flowing textures of surrounding layers to form a cohesive bundle of chillwave greatness.
After only 4 tracks, Losfelt has built up a respectable fan base and expansive blog exposure, leaving us eager to see what she has in store next time around.
