Ta-ku has been on a tear as of late, and after spewing track after track of raunchy, bass-in-your-face productions in the past month, I couldn’t help but to expect more of the same. Except instead of sighting a “BRASS IN YOUR FACE” or “Thumper” genre tag like previous tracks, I see “SONGS TO BREAK UP TO,” at that point preparing myself for a journey into uncharted soundscapes.

Sampling Willow Smith‘s “Summer Fling,” Ta-ku stays minimalist with looming bass undertones and echoing instrumentation that long for nostalgia and sentiment. As “I Miss You” comes to a close, a triumphant outro marks the end of our first journey through Songs To Break Up To, a forthcoming EP from the young Aussie via HuhWhat&Where Recordings.
