I have been spending a lot of time in Japan and I created my record label, Den Haku Records, to promote the Japanese scene outside of Asia. This time is an EP from a Tokyo based producer, Hisashi Takayanagi, better known by his stage name, Oddity. Producing music for more than 6 years now, Oddity has remixed music from major Japanese artists such as Crystal Kay, Unicorn and Nami Tamaki.; however he always felt like doing music for himself with no external constraints. Which he did in 2009 with his first solo Album, Twisted, which included remixes from two French artists, Rafale and Tepr. That album worked quiet well in Japan; however, with only a couple of remixes since then, we had almost forgotten Oddity. But he is back now with a brand new EP, Azid.
This new EP includes two tracks, “Azid” and “The Next Night”. Somewhere between electro, acid and techno, it’s hard to precisely categorize the tracks but what I know for sure is that those roundish sub basses and heavy filtered synths are meant to be played in a club!
