For today’s dose of dairy, we turn to 16-year-old lyrical savant, Bishop Nehru, a New York product crafted in the image of the city’s storied hip-hop history: smooth sample chops and gritty, complex rhyme schemes. As the Empire State slowly returns to form with acts like A$AP Rocky, Action Bronson, Flatbush Zombies, and Joey Bada$$, Nehru seems poised to be the next to make his mark on the city. With his March release, Nehruvia, he proved to be a savage over everything from Dilla to Premo. Now, his appropriately titled new mixtape, Strictly Flowz, which is due out tomorrow (July 16^th), brings us something to soothe the soul. “Mobb Dizzle,” a pseudo-tribute to the legendary rap duo, is vintage and has nearly crippling head-bobbing potential.
