Hot off the heels of Rumah and Metrist’s successful EP’s, the independent underground label Nineteen89, brings us their third EP release from Essex producer Daniel Shell aka Crypt. Feel You is a three track EP that delves into the depths of the dark underground dancefloor.

With releases on Four40 Records and Get Some! Records, Crypt’s early productions were heavily influenced by the dubstep movement, particularly from the dark 2-step garage sound that first emerged from early FWD events at London’s Plastic People. Fragments of these early influences remain in his productions, blended with the various sounds and textures that have infiltrated the ever evolving UK electronic music scene.

Kicking things off with the self-titled “Feel You,” Crypt’s pulsating synths lead you into beautifully arranged soulful male vocals that instantly command your attention. Picking up the pace around the 1:45 mark, Shell’s skillful use of compositional and rhythmic changes will have you moving on the dancefloor. The high-energy uplifting house track aims straight for your dancing shoes, by utilizing old-school techniques paired with a modern production scheme. “Don’t Look Back” takes the turn towards a more ominous beauty, with it’s swelling synths and crisp drums, the track builds to great height and keeps you hooked from start to finish. Last up “Visions,” the dark sister of the three cuts, with crunchy percussion play, a jarring drumline and a distorted bass onslaught, the track rounds out the EP in proper fashion. The EP works well both in the underground or for your listening pleasure at home. So put it on, tune it up, and have a listen through.
