London’s Tourist has the unique ability of relaxing listeners in a soothing ambience of contemplation through the few songs he has released in the year span since his emergence. Relying heavily on textures to draw out his minimalistic beats, William Phillips builds anticipation by mapping out a specific path and carrying through with it until he reaches his destination.
In his newest offering “Stay” the focal point, which can also be considered a climax of sorts, takes root at around three minutes in where under toned vocals are layered by a mellow, yet catchy synth melody. While “Stay” never escalates in the energetic fashion many similar artists rely on, as with many of his songs Phillips pushes the lesser found mindset that less is more. This, in turn, creates rewarding experiences as he navigates the road less traveled. So, sit back, throw on some headphones and vibe to “Stay” and afterwards be sure to download it for free below.
“Stay” is just a taste of what is to come for Tourist, who has a new EP slated for later this year on Method Records. Also, if a more energetic sound is desired, be sure to check out songs from his latest EP Tonight here.
