The amount of bass music around these days is substantial; you can’t turn on the radio without hearing it in some form. This past weekend, we were treated to some new music from UK bass music dons, Star One. The sibling duo, hailing from England, have a growing reputation on the scene for making fresh innovative bass music, with some dope original productions, as well as remixes.
Now they’re back with a new song, “Wanted Man,” which sees them enlist the help of vocalist Aynzli Jones and grime veteran Ghetts. “Wanted Man” is a straight up bass banger, which has clear influences from trap music, drum & bass and jungle. Aynzli Jones provides an alluring hook, whilst Ghetts lyricisim and rhyming style compliments the drum & bass style instrumental. Lili Caseley also provides an additional hook towards the end of the track.
Star One are evolving in the UK music scene, as well as diversifying with the styles of tracks they make. Having previously built up a repertoire of remixes for the likes of Wretch 32, Julio Bashmore and Jamie Woon, as well as releasing their own original material, like the Copyright EPĀ (which you can download for free by ‘liking’ their facebook page HERE). The pair have also hosted their own radio show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and this summer have played some of the biggest music festivals in Europe including Isle Of Wight, Glastonbury and Yahoo Wireless. “Wanted Man” is out September 1st via Carrot Records, and you can also stream/download more Star One music over on their Soundcloud.
