In the category of unexpected collaborations of the moment, Dillon Francis‘ new release “Without You” takes the cake, enlisting Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs on vocals. Out on the always experimental Mad Decent, it’s a perfect summer nu disco offering from Dillon – a far cry from the electro, trap, and moombahton basslines we’ve come to expect from him as of late. Adding in the soulful emotive vocals from TEED over bouncy piano synths moves this from another track in the DJ library to a well-planned song.
Still, the Dillon Francis signature is overtly present, with the buzzy toplines of the second chorus a clear sign of his work. And this isn’t the only collaboration that might surprise you. According to Twitter, hints at work with Nicky Romero and Mark Knight may be coming down the pipeline. Until then (and his upcoming album), enjoy something off the beaten path from a producer who’s clearly not afraid to break the mould of his sound.
