With the release in 2012 of their highly acclaimed debut album Detroit Revolution(s), Detroit hip-hop group Clear Soul Forces turned heads with their sharp wordplay and nostalgic feel. While gaining comparisons to legendary groups, like their city’s own Slum Village, they were able to establish themselves as fresh voices who had something important to say about the culture. In their new video for the single “Ain’t Playin'”, group members E-Fav, L.A.Z., Noveliss and Ilajide show that they have continued to build on the chemistry that got them Detroit’s torch. While the beat knocks, its simplicity allows each wordsmith to flex and come correct with their rhymes. The colorful visuals from director Richard Taylor do a great job of showing the group in their element, doing what they do best.
Clear Soul Forces are planning on releasing their sophomore effort, Gold PP7s, on September 17 with Fat Beats Records.
