The “new New York” strikes again with a behind the scenes visual for The Underachievers’ song “Land Of Lords,” a standout from their popular debut mixtape “Indigoism”. The video features Issa Dash and AK rhyming as KidSuper promotes the ICONIC 2013 clothing line.
The Brooklyn natives take turns rapping as the camera cuts from smoking and relaxing on a couch, to spitting verse throughout a photo shoot. As always, the beast coast rappers are no strangers to shouting out their ever-growing affiliates as Issa boasts “Hey, Tan Boys, World’s Fair, Zombies, Pro Era, ASAP, New York, New York, that’s where it’s at, where it’s at,” and he’s right.
With New York hip-hop flourishing behind artists like Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky, and Flatbush Zombies, real conscious rap music seems to be making a comeback. The Underachievers’ rapid-fire, drug induced style got them recognition from one of the game’ greats Flying Lotus, ultimately leading to signing on FlyLo’s Brainfeeder record label, solidifying them as a new New York as a force to be reckoned with.
There’s no word on a guaranteed project in the future for the duo, although hints at a collaborative project with the Zombies have been discussed. You can find the group’s highly successful music videos on YouTube as well as their mixtapes available for free download on their Official Facebook page.
