Ohio has given the world many great people. The likes of Neil Armstrong, Lebron James and Steven Spielberg all came from The Buckeye State. Musically, Ohio has produced some world-renowned artists such as Marilyn Manson and Dave Grohl, so it’s safe to say there is a good track record when it comes to music in Ohio. In the past couple of years, more urban artists have been breaking through, Machine Gun Kelly and Stalley to name a couple, and now it’s the turn on Lorine Chia.
Having this year dropped her mixtape Lorine, and releasing her own spine chilling rendition of “Strange Fruit”, the songstress is back with another take on a huge hit, “No New Friends”. Orignally done by DJ Khaled and Drake, Lorine’s soft, soothing vocals on top of some dreamy synths, give this cover a whole new dimension. The production is handled by Nate Fox, whose instrumental sets the backdrop perfectly for this mellow, relaxing take on one of the biggest songs of the year.
It’s possible that this track will appear on the reissue of Lorine’s first mixtape, entitled Lorine: Redux, which is due out at some time later this year.
