The dreadful midweek slump is back, and the pain of knowing there are still a couple more days in the office before lazy Saturday makes me want to find a half-assed reason to use up my sick days. Luckily for us in the internet world, music is pumping out by the gallons, and if music therapy is to be true, some of these songs might just alleviate some of the pain.
One of my favorite up-and-coming rappers out there, Phlo Deli, has presented the world with a track that everyone needs to hear. It’s called “Final Hour” and it’s an homage to the legendary Lauryn Hill. She spent an early part of the year in the news for a bit because of some legal disputes she’d been facing, and the hip-hop world came together to show her support.
Phlo Deli, although a bit after everyone else, has also decided to show his devotion to the hip-hop artist with his newest song. Like Lauryn Hill, he meshes in with the production so well and dreamily floats the listener through the journey of his rhymes. It’s a bit of a weird compliment to give, but he manages to have my undivided attention in a dreamlike state. Controlling the listener and demanding respect, Phlo Deli proves to the world that he needs to hurry up and be a household name already.
