In music they say you wear many hats. One day you might be producing a track, the next you might be singing on said track. Here we have Marshall Finlay: producer, sound engineer, sometime vocalist and overall electronic music devotee just to name a few of the fields he dabbles in. Inspired by the grooves and swings of early garage and Chicago house, Marshall puts two and two together to deliver tunes that will have you searching for the nearest dancefloor. His latest track “Money Waster”, on the always-refreshing Black Butter Records, takes dance music back to its house roots. With a playful rhythm and inimitable vocals the track radiates with ease and style. With an equally polished video to accompany the track, you can sit back and indulge in it listen after listen.
When asked what his road map looked like after “Money Water”, Marshall remarked, “Global domination, make album with Rick Rubin, make own tequila brand, make own water brand, get sampled by Will.I.Am, sue Will.I.Am, get sued by someone else, get arrested for tax evasion, make album in jail, get released, make come back album, get dropped for lack of sales, get admitted to the Priory, grow beard like Rick Rubin, preferably in that order”. Those are some pretty hefty goals and our hats off to you Mr. Finlay.
