After tearing up stages all over the world and becoming an enigma, The Magician is currently about to embark on his first solo EP. After the otherwise known Stephen Fasano, left disco outfit Aeroplane in 2010 he went on various ventures including hooking up with Yusek under the moniker The Magician, Peter and The Magician and producing no less than 34 of his infamous monthly mixtapes. For Fasano’s first EP he has employed the help of various all star DJs including French electro legend and EARMILK favorite, Brodinski.
The original was a bit of minimalist electro pumping out a simple but effective melodic pattern with syncopat synths that over time have come The Magician’s signature touch. Add some silky vocals from Newtimers and you have an absolute club banger. Brodinski, however, following on from his collaboration with Theophilius London, revisits the more industrial side of electro with an aggressive bouncing cut with a dark edge to it. With pounding synths, half-time beat and endless kick-drums Brodisnki has flipped this song on its head and made it something completely new and different. Listen below via Mixmag:
