Who cares what Freud would say about the album cover, this song is the jam. Hudson Mohawke is patient with “Vista,” he gets beneath your skin with the dream pop vocals, electric piano, and hysteresis. The swells and ebbs, the crest and troughs, it is like the ocean going into tumult. It rocks. It waves. It tips the boat and puts you in the water. Almost hard to pinpoint when you go overboard because the song is so fluid. Maybe it’s the overdriven bass synth or the marching drums that sink deep into reverb. After about three minutes, when the synth is pulling your body in every direction, you won’t care. You’ll want to ride that wave forever.
