I’m just going to get right to it, I mess with this track heavy. I mean, I messed with it heavy before, but I had to be in the mood for it. Since hearing what Dim Mak (Steve Aoki) signee Downlow’d did on this remix, I’ve been hooked. It’s certainly maintained some of the trapiness of the original cut, but it’s got so much more energy now. On the first half of the track you can tell that production is bigger, the 808s are heavier and the high-hats are sharper, but it’s still not a monster. However, when you reach the midway point, things get turned up a notch as Downlow’d employs a high-pitch synth that weaves throughout the existing base. This dynamism combined with The Weeknd‘s ominous presence creates a great back and forth across the track. Although I would have loved to see what he would have done with Juicy J on the track, the “One of Those Nights” remix definitely gets the job done.
