The Vancouver based producer Blood Diamonds has always had a rich tapestry of sound–traditional percussion percolating with glitch house sounds, thick bass warbles and bright hooks. Imagine if Aphex Twin had pop sensibility. The sound is complicated and interwoven, but never overwhelming His latest track “Osaka” is no different. While his signature vocal cut-ups, slaloming through pitch shifts, and full-bodied marimbas come out in spades, his sound is evolving. It’s almost pugilistic in it’s assault. It’s fast and ferocious, but it has a way of coming back on its heels when you feel like you can’t take anymore. The pacing and perspective are perfect. The technique is here.
