House music has seen a massive spike in popularity the past couple of years, especially in the UK. The likes of Hot Since 82, Amine Edge and Marc Kinchen are just a few of the genre’s biggest names at the present time, and there’s one man from London who is knocking on that door. Fabio Lendrum, whose last project was the critically acclaimed Alpha EP that was released last summer, has been quietly working away on new bangers for the dancefloor, and this week we got a little taste of that work, with the debut of his Alter Ego EP.
The two-track project is the perfect sample of the deeper side of house music. The first track, “Down With You”, features a heavy bass line on top of a shuffling beat, that has hard kicks and some beautifully pitched down vocals that are seriously catchy. The second track from the EP, “Demerara”, follows along the same lines as the first, but gets a lot more funkier, with a bass line that instantly makes you want to get up and move, with some soulful vocals chops on top, making this a sure fire dancefloor smash.
The 21 year old Brit, who’s impressive list of admirers includes legendary Radio 1 presenter Pete Tong who gave him the accolade of ‘Essential New Tune’, has been on tour with another Radio 1 DJ, Mistajam recently, and has been honing his craft to something that’s more stimulating and seductive. He says “I sold a load of old gear and bought myself a bunch of studio toys that would become my obsession and direct me to the style I was after”. Fabio is planning on releasing his Alter Ego EP early next year, whilst continuing to work on more new music. You can stream the EP below, and be sure to visit his Soundcloud for more bangers from this upcoming house superstar.
