Childish Gambino‘s marketing strategy for Because The Internet is off the charts. From the initial out-of-the-blue release of “Centipede” to freestyles to mansion parties to twitter rants, all eyes are on Glover as he gears up for his December 10 release. Yesterday, Donald retweeted a link to his latest creation “Telegraph Ave.” alongside a Ta-ku remix to boot. This liberation is a bold turnaround from his visible frustration after “Sweatpants” leaked earlier this week.

In several interviews, Gambino mentioned staking out a new direction in his musical career, evident in his latest single. Wispy, filtered singing takes precedent over a sparkly, gradual beat; named after Oakland’s primary downtown strip, the intimate subject matter of “Telegraph Ave.” renders many similarities to several Drake tracks. Conventional fans aren’t disappointed, though, as Gambino transitions into a frenetic breakdown of rapid-fire bars before the track’s closing.

The versatility of Donald Glover is apparent on every piece of Because The Internet thus far, but we know there are still fireworks left in store for the album’s release. Stream the track below, and don’t miss Gambino’s second LP, out December 10.
