If you’ve ever heard a booming, encouraging voice that sounds like it’s speaking the Gospel over a techno track, it’s probably those of Roland Clark. This week, the producer has partnered with British old school house artist Tocadisco for a collaboration that is as authentic as it gets. “Phoenix” is out on Toolroom Records and again features Clark’s recognizable voice, along with a winding bass line and hypnotizing acidic synths that are acidic enough to make us all nostalgic for 2001. Take a listen and groove out to the track below to understand how “Phoenix” spans the gaps between multiple generations of house music.
