When thinking about emerging artists who might just have what it takes to make it in the big leagues, Australian DJ and producer Walden definitely comes to mind. Already sporting a long list of big names that he’s opened for, recently including R3hab, Knife Party, and Showtek, the young wonder has built a reputation for himself in just a few years. While he describes his current sound as the result of “trial and error” with everything from happy hardcore to jazz fusion, the verdict is in that Walden has found a home in house.
In January of this year, “Intropial” showcased his skill at creating bright, progressive tracks, featuring a mysterious and ethereal vocal that combined with lively, multi-lined builds. Citing a show where he heard the French artist Surkin drop some wildly weird beats as the inspiration for today’s release, Walden takes a turn towards the dark side with Machine Land.
The EP as a whole is very different from what I normally produce, which I think is a good thing. Of course I will always have that melodic/emotive side to my sound, but for this release, I just really wanted to try something a little more out there, and to do something outside of my comfort zone.
