It’s been over four months since the Canadian collaboration of Autoerotique and Felix Cartal released “The Alarm”, a buzzy electro march put forth on Dim Mak. Now, with a three-track remix EP, listeners get to revisit this track through the lens of a variety of new styles.
First off the pack is a remix from Toronto live electronic trio Keys N Krates, where the climbing electro leads are teased out only to drop floor-shaking 808 drums. With a chant-worthy vocal sample and multiple sirens swooping in at every beat, this one will be sure to smoothly merge the gap between dance and hip hop sets.
Next up is Montreal young gun Charlie Darker with a pounding, drum-heavy big-room take on the original. With support in both podcasts and live shows from artists such as Tiësto, Hardwell, and Steve Aoki, don’t be surprised if you hear this one pumping across the mainstage during festival season this summer.
Rounding up the release is Mexican producer Erick Rincon’s take, fusing 8-bit beats with latin tribal drums, creating a unique sound that adds a pleasant surprise to the usual remix EP formula. The entire EP is available on Beatport now.
