UK based artist Context first made a splash with his well received “1.4 at 12” back in March. Now he drops us another line by following up with his 2 step vibed “Small Town Lad Sentiments.” Produced alongside, Cinematic and Dusky, the beat employs a choppy keyboard and melodic vocal samples, further proving Context has found a new niche in classic garage, of course in the most contagious way possible. Providing a gritty social commentary, Contest tells a story of “counting two pence pieces” to pay his debts “in a place where typing out a CV is wishful thinking” – a story that will ring déjà vu with a large percentage of today’s disaffected youth.
The video was shot and directed by Lyle Lindgren who’s work resume includes the likes of, Professor Green, Akala, Josh Osho, Mikill Pane, DVS, and Etta Bond. In the visual storyline we see a ‘Small Town Lad’ escaping the annoyance of crooked debt collectors, before exacting his final revenge. 2013 seems to be treating the Norwich MC who just scored a spot at Wireless festival and Reading & Leeds on the 1Xtra stage. Stay tuned.
