What if I told you that Canada has more rappers to offer to the world of hip-hop than the Toronto superstar Drake? Shad (who actually beat the “Started From The Bottom” artist for Juno Award Rap Recording of the Year back in 2011) is easily one of the best lyricists to come out of the Great White North, and I’d argue that he’s got the ability to make waves in the industry with some of the best of them (I dream for a Shad/Kendrick Lamar collaboration). Joining forces with Capitol Hill Music co-founder Saukrates and the beat junkie Skratch Bastid, “Stylin” is the result of some of Canada’s finest in the rap community coming together.
Shot in an empty room, the video showcases some fantastic minimalistic efforts, which is quite the change from the amount of insecure rappers needing to validate their image by throwing money around. This allows us to divert our attention to the lyrical wordplay of the Kenyan born emcee (I’m guess we’re not in the same league, MVP/guess that means were in the same league, but I’m 23/that’s LeBron that’s Jordan either way/ I’m the best draft…MGD). Watch the video down below and get pumped for Shad’s next project, Flying Colours, which will be out on October 15th.
