There’s no doubt that Michiel Thomassen, Dutch house artist known under the stage name Mike Mago, is making an impression on the international house scene. Featured in sets by DJ’s among the ranks of Rudimental, David Guetta, AfroJack, Nervo, and Tensnake, Mago’s new track, “The Show” has been making a formidable impression on more than a couple of ears, including those of San Francisco artist and producer, Daniel Goldstein.
Better known as Lane 8, Goldstein takes a laid-back yet alluring approach to Mago’s popular house tune. In his remix he slows down the pace and leaves the descending bass behind, but keeps the signature soulful vocals of the original. Throwing in animated disco synths and a sparkly clean backbeat, the track makes for a Bossa Nova tune that is sure to get you in a funky mood. What I would call a dulcet mix of Daft Punk-ish discotheque sounds and the jaunty house beats of French Express artists Chris Malinchak and Isaac Tichauer, this Lane 8 remix, with its sharp percussion and auric disco vibe, will subtly but undoubtedly push you onto the dance floor.
