Atlanta’s wizardly production/DJ duo HYDRABADD have been on an icy streak of diverse releases over the past few months. From their recent EP Tundra Nymph & Ice Chasm on Dutch label, Paradisiaca Recordings, that also brought a 52 minute mix, to an official Trinidad Jame$ remix and an original rap track featuring Atlanta rapper/producer Russ, Bon and Catt Moop have no interest in slowing down. Their rhythmically tactical take on Cassie and Jeremih‘s “Sound of Love” is further proof that the duo remains in the fast lane. However, this track could have forever remained in the void, never reaching the light of our screens.
As HYDRABADD describes it, Bon was rendering animations in a 3D environment when the large nature of the project mysteriously deleted all trace of the Cassie rework from existence. The duo scoured through any related folder and previous versions hosted on the internet to no avail. Luckily for us, a couple days later they found the finished version intact through a file-sharing site and gave us what we have here. Through its lush soundscape of arpeggiations, chopped vocal samples and heavy bass, this song lives up to its Magicmix title with ease.
