This has been quite an eventful few months for Chet Faker. After a year-long hiatus following his debut album Thinking In Textures, the eclectic vocalist released a 3-track collaborative EP with Flume last month while traveling across the states for his first US tour. After wrapping up the string of shows in Brooklyn on November 18th, Chet stopped by WYNC’s Soundcheck Studios to perform a live rendition of “I’m Into You.”

This stripped-down version erases the percussion and nuances of the original, leaving us with only Faker’s gripping vocals and dark keys. While the original may be a more “complete” song by some standards, this version of “I’m Into You” is one of the most gripping performances we’ve heard all year. As music continues to shift toward multilayered, expansive production, listeners must be reminded of the simple beauty of an eerie croon and a Steinway piano—and “I’m Into You” is a perfect example.
